Bloody Mary Jello Shots: The Ultimate Tailgate Recipe

Top of the morning to you! Tailgate days start early, and so do the parties. If you want to kick things off right, you need a treat that is as savory as it is spirited.
Our Bloody Mary Jello Shots are the perfect addition to your early morning spread. They provide that classic brunch cocktail flavor in a fun, portable format. What could be better in the morning than bacon? That’s why our secret ingredient is bacon-flavored vodka. It’s an absolute game-changer!
The Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups Tomato juice or Bloody Mary mix
- 1 pkg. Knox gelatin
- ¾ cup bacon-flavored vodka (oh yes, we did!)
- Celery salt (for garnish)
- Optional: Mini celery stalks or olives
How to Make the Perfect Bloody Mary Jello Shots
- Bloom the Gelatin: Sprinkle the Knox gelatin over the tomato juice or Bloody Mary mix in a saucepan. Let it sit for 3 minutes.
- Heat: Heat the mixture on low, stirring constantly, until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat immediately.
- Mix: Add the bacon-flavored vodka and stir well.
- Fill: Pour the jello mixture into your Jellinator. This is the only way to fill your shot cups FAST and keep things stress-free. No mess!
- Chill & Garnish: Refrigerate for 30 minutes, then sprinkle each shot with celery salt. Continue to refrigerate until set (approx. 3–4 hours). Garnish with an olive or mini celery stalk just before serving.
Jello Shots Recipes FAQ’s
How many shots am I making?
1 small box of jello yields about 15 jello shots (2 cups of liquid). If you are preparing for a larger group, 2 boxes (or 1 large 6 oz. box) will yield 30 shots, which fits perfectly on a standard baking sheet for easy refrigerator transport.
How much booze should I buy?
Planning a massive party? A good rule of thumb is that 1 fifth of vodka, 1 fifth of liqueur, and 6 boxes of jello will yield 90–100 shots.
How do I store my shots?
Always cover your shots before you chill them so they don’t get hard and gummy. A layer of plastic wrap works perfectly. If covered, the shots should keep for a month or so.
Can I use sugar-free jello?
Yes. ‘Nuf said!
